I’ve been thinking about doing something like this for a few months, but as you may know, we’ve been a little busy at the RocketDigs. Now that we’ve settled into a routine and it looks like even the armed forces are doing some major housecleaning, I figured we can kickstart our Spring Cleaning CORNER CLUTTER CHALLENGE!
Corners are clutter magnets in our home. It’s understandable. After all, when space is at a premium, where else would you stash your bookshelves, your wine rack, your stereo woofer, your recycling, your couch blankets? (All of those are in one corner of our living room. Seriously.) We have the added fun of randomly placed retro-fitting plates that make it damn near impossible to put any furniture in a corner without the help of several shims and a magazine or two. The room I’m in right now–our sunroom, bedroom, and office–has three atrocious corners, and one that’s slightly less terrible, although we’re working on making that one actually good.
Here’s the challenge:
I want YOU to photograph a corner of your home that you’ve been dying to tackle for some time. Or, if not dying to, at least thinking about. Or maybe you’ve passed it and thought, “When was the last time I looked in that 1990 Desk Reference?” Take a picture now, and then by May 31, take another picture of your brand-new, decluttered corner, and send it to me with an explanation of what you did! Throw it away, pack it away, reorganize, build, whatever you can do, do it, and tell us all about it.
The best (judged on before/after and your methods) will win a $25 gift card to The Container Store, that mecca of de-clutterization!
Throughout the month I’ll be publishing my favorite no-brainer spring cleaning tips. Look for the first today!
