Hello world!
Posted by rocketgirlsf on November 10, 2008
So I officially have a blog on wordpress–I only hope it lives up to the brilliant blogs I love, including but not limited to Good Crafternoon, What I Wore Today and FitLifeSF.
This blog is not themed. Yet. It probably will have a theme. You’ll know soon enough.
Today’s thought: PBS. I ask you, PBS: If I spend up to 20 hours a week watching PBS (Washington Week, cooking shows, Business Hour, Jim Lehrer) why does it make sense to you to take away the shows I love most during the time you want me to give money? I’d gladly donate if you gave me Jacques Pepin when I expect him, or Jim Lehrer when he’s supposed to be looking at me with those beady eyes. Instead, I find three Irish chippies singing in a concert hall, or Deepak Chopra talking in front of a stained glass window, or if you’re really in the mood to terrify, Suze Orman’s choppers.
PBS viewers, I beg you: don’t take advantage of the schwag they’re giving away unless it’s actually a show you watch, when you watch it. Don’t donate just so you can get the box set of Little Irish Elfin Lilting Singer-Dancers. Save the world for the rest of us.
And just for filler, tonight we’re having a chicken, broccoli and cheese casserole. I have realized I no longer have to worry about losing that last six pounds, so bring on the cheese and pasta!
P.S. I left the title of this blog as Hello world! because I’m a computer programmer, and it seems a fitting beginning. Even though I kind of HATE that little start program.

I heart PBS! Since I don’t have cable (or won’t, rather, once my friend brings my tv over to my new place), I pretty much live on PBS and ABC. Their music shows and history retrospectives are phenomenal. I’ll admit to being moved enough to support them at the $200 level in ‘07 so I could nab Bob Dylan/Elvis Costello tickets for the Fox. Then again, it was during a Bob Dylan music show AND I was planning to get tickets anyway.
They can’t get rid of the Irish ladies quick enough, though. *shudder*
